Powhatan County is ready to shine bright this Independence Day with Light Up Powhatan, a festive July 4th celebration at Fighting Creek Park. This free community event honors both America’s birthday and Virginia’s 250th, bringing families, friends, and neighbors together for an evening filled with music, food, and fireworks.

Paid parking is required and must be purchased ahead of time through Powhatan Parks & Recreation. Prices increase by $5 on the day of the event, and road closures will be in effect, so early planning is encouraged.

What to Expect
A Night of Music, Food & Fun
Beginning at 5:30 PM when parking opens, guests can settle in with chairs and blankets for a full evening of entertainment. Live music kicks off at 6:30 PM with Cody Christian, followed by Inside Out Band at 8:00 PM, who will continue performing even after the fireworks until 10 PM. Food trucks and local vendors will be on-site, offering plenty of delicious options to enjoy throughout the night.
Fireworks at Dusk
The highlight of the evening, Powhatan’s spectacular fireworks show, will light up the sky at dusk, estimated around 9:15 PM.
